YOUR WAY TO THE VENUE

The European Parliament travel service books flight or train tickets for all participants of the European Youth Media Days 2008 in advance. In case your application for the EYMD 2008 is successful, we will inform you about all details of your travel arrangement when confirming your participation.

All participants who will fly to Brussels are recommended to give a donation to climate-protection projects like atmosfair (www.atmosfair.com) to egalise the climate-damaging CO²-emissions caused by their flights.

More info for your stay besides the EYMD programme

As from this year, as a participant of the European Youth Media Days 2008, you will feel even more welcome and enjoy your visit to Brussels thanks to a collaboration with the Brussels Convention and Visitors Bureau (BI-TC).

BI-TC has developed a series of hosting initiatives so that you will be benefit from a personalized assistance as soon as you arrive on the Brussels ground or even before your departure:

Brussels Airport and Gare du Midi (rail station)
As soon as you get to the baggage reclaim (airport) or arrival hall (station), look out for the "BITC-European Youth Media Days" welcome desk. Smiling staff will assist you with first information about how to reach your hostel, visitors information, maps, assistance for your stay, etc.

Before your departure to Brussels
While you are preparing your travel to Brussels, please have a look on the BI-TC website. There you'll find a whole range of information about what to do and how to enjoy your stay besides the EYMD programme.

Feel free to also contact one of the Brussels TOF people and get advice from a native from your own country. TOF People are EU nationals, from all 27 members states, who live in Brussels and can share their love of the city with you, in your own language.

Your accommodation in Brussels

The lodging in Brussels is organised by the team of the European Youth Media Days. After the confirmation of your participation you will get informed in which hostel/hotel you are going to stay. Please note: You will need to advance the costs of approximately 110 Euros for accommondation (including breakfast) in cash at check-in upon arrival. The European Parliament reimburses the expenses for accommodation and meals to you (for further details please see the terms and conditions).

The Auberge de Jeunesse 'Jaques Brel' is a friendly hostel with an international atmosphere. It is located in the very heart of the city.

The Génération Europe Youth Hostel is located in central Brussels only 15 minutes walking distance from the Grand-Place. It has all the necessary facilities for groups such as coach parking and activity rooms, etc. It runs special activity programs and organises evening events, outings and more. It's the ideal youth hostel for meeting new people in a both relaxing and lively atmosphere.

Hotel Manhattan is a nice cosy place in the center of Brussels that still reminds of the old times. Walls and elevator still have their original details. All rooms have their own bathroom.

Brussels Royotel offers a central location in Rue Royale, near the train stations Noord(Gare du Nord) and Centraal(Gare Centrale).  The peaceful rooms in the hotel offer a shower and/or bath, toilet, telephone and television.
