THE EUROPEAN DREAM? A WAKE-UP CALL
PANEL DISCUSSION WITH THE CHAIRMEN OF THE POLITICAL GROUPS IN THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Am I proud to be a European? Why should I? This panel will discuss current EU policies, political visions of the EUs future and economical and social policies in light of their contribution to creating a European identity. Are tools, policies and actions effective and is the European Union doing enough to provide citizens with the grounds for a collective identity? The panel will include brief media interventions to stimulate discussion and issue a wake-up call from young Europeans to their representatives in the European Parliament.

REPORTING BEYOND BORDERS. TRUE EUROPEAN EXPERIENCES
MEDIA NIGHT OF THE EUROPEAN YOUTH MEDIA DAYS
Young journalists, correspondents and Members of the European Parliament are invited to enjoy the evening together during a reception in the European Parliament. With their different professional and cultural backgrounds attendees can spark further thoughts on the ideas of the opening event, European politics and media. This food for thought will be complemented by snacks, drinks and music.
REPORTING BEYOND BORDERS. TRUE EUROPEAN EXPERIENCES
European youth media and young media makers with the aim to promote intercultural dialogue within Europe and beyond will be invited to share their experiences and discuss the impact of their work. This informal panel will give ideas on intercultural communication as well as its results.

In the workshops, young media makers will produce new formats for young European media. Aided by workshop facilitators, MEPs and media experts, participants will discover ways of translating their ideas into concrete media outcomes.

BRUSSELS SAFARI
DISCOVERING THE NIGHTLIFE OF THE EUROPEAN CAPITAL
Before returning to their hostels, the participants of the European Youth Media Days will have the chance to explore the city of Brussels. Guided by students, interns and assistants working in the capital of Europe, they will get to discover the nightlife, get to know each other and interact with young Europeans working and studying in Brussels.

AWARD CEREMONY AND PANEL DISCUSSION
European Parliament Prize for Journalism awarded by:
Hans-Gert Pöttering, President of the European Parliament
followed by a panel debate:
"The role of the media in providing better information for citizens on the EU institutions, and particularly the European Parliament"
After a day of workshops, in which the participants had the chance to discuss own ideas and experience limitations in making European media, this panel will continue the days theme and gather input from the "grow-up" media. The leading question is how the European Union and its policies can and should be reported to the citizens of Europe. This panel will explore the roles, opportunities and limitations of journalists and EU institutions in this process. It will challenge panellists to discuss formats, languages and contents for finally going beyond biased national media and creating a truly European one.

CLOSING EVENT OF THE EUROPEAN YOUTH MEDIA DAYS 2008
200 open minds plan and design new media: The European Youth Media Days are an innovative multimedia event with presentation of all media outcomes - guided by speakers from the European Parliament, professional journalists and media producers. All media created during these three days view and interpret European issues from a new, young perspective, reflecting a European way of life. Kicked-off with the presentation and discussion of these media, the closing event will evolve into a night of intercultural dialogue, discussions, inspiring media displays, networking and a vision of what Europe and European media can be.
