By participating in the EYMD you need to accept the following terms and conditions.
1. Participants need to be between 18 and 30 years of age at the time of application in order to take part in the European Youth Media Days (EYMD). Previous project commitment or involvement in journalistic work is useful, but no essential requirement.
2. Participants are fully responsible for their actions and behaviour. House rules are on display and to be followed at all times. Participants in the EYMD are required to take part in all program elements and workshop sessions. Participants are expected to be actively involved in the event and to contribute with their own experiences.
3. Participants, who do not participate in all program parts, repeatedly ignore the organisers’ instructions, disturb the event, disrespect the house rules of the European Parliament and other venues, or damage facilities, will be excluded from the event.
4. Travel for participants will be arranged and paid for directly by the European Parliament prior to the event.
5. Accommodation will be reserved by the European Youth Press (EYP) and needs to be paid by each participant individually and in cash upon arrival. The charge will be approximately 110 Euros for each participant. Please note: Participants will be reimbursed for accommodation according to § 6.
6. All participants receive a per-day lump sum reimbursement of 90 Euros (total: 270 Euros for 3 days) to cover their expenses for meals, local transportation and accommodation (see §5). This lump sum is paid directly and in cash to participants by the European Parliament on the second day of the event.
7. If needed, participants upon their request can be provided with a letter about their upcoming participation in EYMD. Participants will receive an official certificate of participation after the event.
8. The deadline for applications is 24 September 2008. Participants will be selected by a selection committee of the European Parliament and the European Youth Press immediately afterwards and will be confirmed the latest by 28 September 2008 and instructed for further actions.
9. If a selected participant cannot attend the EYMD, and fails to cancel participation at least 10 days before the event, they will be charged an organisational allowance of 100 Euro. In case of a sudden illness, cancellation is possible at a later point, provided a medical certificate.
10. The EYP and the EYMD are not taking care of insurances. All participants are responsible for their own medical insurance, travel insurance, cancellation insurance and insurance of their equipment.
